My name is William O’Donnell, I recently graduated from UCSB with a degree in Statistics and Data Science. Part of what I love about statistics in general is that it’s a set of tools which can be applied to basically any problem. While many of these problems for me have involved chess and obscure betting markets, it’s exciting to me to think of all the different problems in the world left to explore.
Areas of research and/or application that interest me involve mechanistic interpretability and ML/AI pipeline engineering. With a recent project I’ve been working on but have yet to share, I’ve been exploring custom transformer-based approaches to pricing specific contracts on the popular betting website Kalshi.
Outside of ML and finance, I really love skiing, surfing, chess, music, and spending quality time with friends.
